The cows at Park Farm are cared for so well. They graze all day (for as long in the year as cows can) on Ramsbottom grass. Around half a mile away up the road, you may even see the Park Farm cows walking across the road to reach the fields and back! No antibiotics found in this milk. More info below...
The Park Farm herd stay grazing outdoors from April/May up until October/November. The Lees family make the decision each year when it's too frosty or wet underfoot for the cows to live comfortably outdoors. When indoors over winter, they have plenty of space and natural animal feed (which is also sourced locally!).
None of the cows at Park Farm are fed antibiotics unless they are unwell. If this happens, these cows are not milked. Milk is also tested for any traces of antibiotics, and won't ever reach your cereal.
Park Farm Dairy is a family owned business, and treat their cows as best as they can. They choose the old fashioned method of hand milking the cows in order to keep a close eye on the herd, and check for any signs of irriration or early sicknesses.
Park Farm are quite unconventional (their words!) as when the calves are born, they run with the herd and suckle from their mothers. These cows in turn are then just milked once a day, and we get the surplus milk.
Unlike milk sold in supermarkets, Park Farm milk is unhomogenised. Homogenisation is a process that breaks the fat globules into smaller droplets so they stay suspended in the milk. Park Farm milk has a cream line on top - how milk used to be!
Park Farm was established over 60 years ago, and is the last producer and supplier around for miles. We're in full support of such a wonderful, local farm - and wish them many more years in successful business.
Being so local - we're able to get daily milk deliveries from the dairy - meaning your milk is delivered as fresh as can be every week.
